PocOff Solo privacy policy
Last updated: 3 October 2026
PocOff Solo ("the app") is a pocket office for sole traders, freelancers and small businesses. This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: everything you put into PocOff Solo stays on your phone. The app has no account, no server, no ads, no analytics and no internet permission, so it cannot send your information anywhere.

What the app stores, and where
Everything below is stored only in the app's private storage on your phone. Nobody else, including the developer, can see it.
- Your business details: business name, address, registration and VAT numbers, banking details, logo, terms and conditions, currency and settings.
- Documents: scans, imported PDF, Word and Excel files, and documents you create (quotes, invoices, exports).
- Expenses: amounts, VAT, vendor, category, date, payment method and photos of slips.
- Quotes, invoices, clients and products: client names and contact details, line items, payments and booking dates.
- Documents & Expiries: photos of licences, certificates and other documents, and the details read from them or typed in. On a vehicle licence disc these are the licence number (number plate), vehicle register number, VIN, engine number, make and description, plus the expiry date.
- Calendar, notes and to-dos: events and reminders, including the expiry entries the app adds to its own calendar.
- Trip log: odometer photos and readings, and, if you allow it, the location where each reading was taken.
- Time sheets, budget entries, calculations and split bills.
- Signatures: stored encrypted on the phone.
Camera, photos and on-device text recognition
When you photograph a slip, an odometer, a document or a licence (or pick a photo from your gallery), the picture is read on your phone by Google ML Kit text recognition, which is built into the app. The picture and the text read from it are not sent anywhere. The app uses your phone's camera app and the Android photo picker. It doesn't ask for camera or storage permission and only sees the photos you choose.
The document scanner and the optional writing help (proofread, rewrite, summarise) use Google Play services on your phone. Where your phone supports it, writing help runs on the phone with Google's on-device Gemini Nano model. Your text is not sent to the developer. Google's own handling of Play services is covered by Google's privacy policy.
Location
Location is used only by the trip log, to record where an odometer reading was taken, and only after you allow it. It is used only while you use the app, never in the background, and is stored only with the trip on your phone.
Notifications, alarms and the calendar
Reminders for events, to-dos, overdue invoices and expiring documents are scheduled on your phone and shown as local notifications. No push service is used. Expiry dates are added to PocOff Solo's own calendar inside the app. The app does not read or write your phone's system calendar.
Backups
Your data is only on your phone, so a lost or reset phone means losing it unless you back up. The in-app Export backup writes a single file containing all your app data and files to a place you choose (for example your own cloud drive). That file contains everything listed above, including document photos, so keep it somewhere safe. The developer never receives it.
Android's automatic backup only includes the app's small settings file (your preferences and the free-trial record). It never includes your business data. It goes to your own Google account under Google's backup terms.
Free trial and purchase
PocOff Solo has a 14-day free trial followed by a once-off unlock (R99 in South Africa), bought through Google Play. To run the trial, the app keeps the date it was first opened on your phone (in the small settings file described under Backups). To check the unlock, the app asks the Google Play Store app on your phone whether this Google account has bought it, and remembers the answer so it keeps working offline. Google Play processes the payment under Google's terms and privacy policy. The app never sees your payment details and doesn't send anything to the developer.
Sharing
The app never shares your information. When you choose to share or export a document (for example sending an invoice PDF by email), it goes to the app you pick, and that app's own privacy policy applies.
Children
PocOff Solo is a business tool and isn't directed at children.
Your choices and deleting your data
You can edit or delete any item in the app. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes everything it holds on your phone. Backup files you saved elsewhere must be deleted by you.
Security
Data is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps can't read. Signatures are encrypted. You can switch on App lock (fingerprint, face or device PIN) in Settings.
Terms of use
Use of the app is also subject to the PocOff Solo terms of use and disclaimer, available in the app under Settings > Terms of use.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
